Tropical
- low latitudes
- HOT all the time
- precipitation
  - Wet all the time
  - two seasons - rainy season (alot of rain) and dry season (little or no rain)
Dry
- ARID all the time
- may be hot (the Sahara) or cold (the Gobi)
Moderate
- middle latitudes
- rarely below freezing
- moderate rainfall
Continental
- summer is moderate to hot
- winter is cold
Polar
- high latitudes
- COLD all the time
