Generally, social studies is the study of
  • how people live (i.e. types of food, clothing, shelter)
  • the groups they live in (i.e. types of families, governments, customs)
  • and the relationship between people, individuals, groups and time (cooperation, conflict, peace, war, trade

Geography is the combination of two Greek words:

  • "geo" meaning "the Earth"
  • "graphien" meaning "to write about"

Translated directly, the term means "to write about or describe the Earth".

Therefore, our study will include:

  • the physical environment and characteristics of the Earth
  • the people who inhabit the Earth and their relationship with the Earth and other groups who share the Earth
